Rukungiri man arrested for kidnapping a three-year-old

Police in Rukungiri have arrested one Medad Musinguzi alias Nsenga Francis, 21, a resident of Omukashanda village, Nyabushenyi parish, and Nyarushanje sub-county, Rukungiri district, for the alleged kidnapping of a three-year-old male juvenile, Aroni Atukunda, a pupil at Excel Centre Community Nursery School and a son of Alex Ankunda, who lives at the same address.

Kigezi regional police Spokesperson Elly Maate says that it’s alleged that on June 2, 2023, at about 1700 hours, in Omukashanda village, the suspect, who was a casual laborer in that home, allegedly kidnapped the victim and called the victim’s father using the number 0776563047 and asked for a ransom of 1.5 million Ugandan shillings as a condition of his release to return him to his parents. 

Maate says that a report was made by the victim’s father,
After inquiries commenced, the victim was rescued and the suspect arrested from his hideout through phone tracking on February 7, 2023, at about 1800 hrs in Kinaba village in Kanungu district.

The victim was there after being medically examined and handed over to the parents in good condition.

The inquiries are ongoing and, upon completion, the defendants will be arraigned before courts of law to answer charges accordingly.
