Rukiga Woman MP rewards PLE stars

Kamusiime Caroline Muhwezi, a Rukiga woman member of parliament, has rewarded students who excelled in the primary school leaving examinations for 2022.

The legislator today handed over a totla of 253 mattresses worth $12,650,000 to the pupils who passed in division one at a function held in Muhanga town council, Rukiga district.
Speaking at the function,Oscar Akampurira, the Rukiga district speaker who doubles as the director of Muhanga Golden Nursery and Primary School, commended the legislator for her tremendous support for education in Rukiga District.

Akampurira added that Rukiga has been registering good performance in PLE since 2017, when the legislature launched her project of rewarding the PLE stars.

Caroline KamusiimeMuhwezi, the Rukiga district woman MP, attributed the good performance in the primary leaving exams by the pupils to her project of rewarding PLE stars with mattresses, saying that it has motivated and instilled in the candidates a desire to work hard in order to be rewarded.

She also revealed plans to expand the same project to children whose parents are unable to raise school fees beginning next year.

The member of parliament started this project of rewarding PLE stars in 2017, when 145 pupils got a first grade, In 2018, there were 161 pupils; in 2019, there were 187 pupils; in 2020, there were 190 pupils; and in 2022, there were 253 pupils.
