Minister Bahati urges locals to embrace skills trainings

The minister for trade, industry, and co-operatives, Hon. David Bahati, has called on locals in Ndorwa West constituency to embrace the practice of being equipped with entrepreneurial skills.

Bahati made the call yesterday  at the closure of a week of training that was held at different sub-county headquarters in Ndorwa West constituency, where each association from different areas of the constituency had sent its representatives, who will also be training the locals in societies.

The LCIII Chairperson for Kamuganguzi Sub-county, Twesigomwe Elias, while delivering a speech on behalf of the area Member of Parliament, Hon. David Bahati, who organized training at four different sub-county headquarters such as Ryakarimira town council, Kitumba sub-county, Katuna town council, and Kamuganguzi sub-county, said that skills are very vital in our daily economic life and it’s the only reason why the government is putting a lot of emphasis on vocational institutions and training people, such as the 

Bahati urged the locals to use the skills they had acquired as they tapped into government programs such as the Parish Development Model in order to improve wealth creation.

He informed the public that he had requested that the trainers under MTAC organize these trainings to help people increase their household incomes.

He revealed that this will continue in all subcounties in the constituency to ensure that all people benefit.

Mucunguzi Sheila, a resident of Kaburanga, has vowed that in this training, she learned many skills, such as bar soap making, liquid soap making, writing, and jelly making, among others.

Niwandinda Demas, from the village of Nyakyonga in Kamuganguzi sub-county, said that they have learned how to use the borrowed loans from banks and local associations by making profits out of them because many people have been struggling to pay back those loans, which he says was due to being untrained on how to use them.

Niwadinda went on to say that these skills would increase their household incomes, which would enable them to pay loans, school fees, and other basic needs.
