The State Minister for Finance in charge of General Duties, Henry Musasizi, has confirmed that he received iron sheets from the prime minister’s office and appropriately distributed them to schools in his constituency.

Since last week, the media has been flooded with reports of alleged diversion and sale of iron sheets intended for the Karamoja sub-region from the Prime Minister’s Office.Even though Prime Minister Robinnah Nabanjja has come out to dismiss the claims as untrue, the media has continued to report that the iron sheets were procured specifically for vulnerable communities in Kraramoja.

The media reports indicated that Minister Musasizi is among the top government officials who shared the iron sheets in question.

However, while speaking as the chief guest during the baptism of the St. Augustine Ikumba choir at St. Augustin Catholic Church in Hamurwa sub-county, Rubanda district, Min. Musasizi, who doubles as the Rubanda East MP, explained that he has been consistently in touch with the Office of the Prime Minister, lobbying for his constituents in need of not only iron sheets but also water, posho, and so many other things.

Musasizi explained that he requested the iron sheets because a number of schools in his constituency needed them, adding that he has been on several parliamentary fronts to fight against corruption and therefore cannot participate in the same.

“For the 7 years and a half I have been a member of the public accounts committee fighting corruption, I understand the dos and don’ts of being a public servant, which is why I cannot involve myself in corruption tendencies.” Musasizi said

He also urged Christians to embrace a saving culture and work to combat poverty.

While presiding over the mass, Rev. Fr. Habert Agaba, the parish priest of Kakore Rugambwa in Rubanda district, noted that he received 200 iron sheets from Hon. Musasizi to boost different projects in the parish.

“Therefore, I want to confirm to you that I received 200 iron sheets, which I requested for to assist our communities,” Fr. Agaba said.

He stated that 63 of the 200 iron sheets were used at Bugiri Primary School, and the remaining 132 will be used to roof the classroom block at St. John’s Ikumba Primary School.
