The sorry state of Nyaruziba-Nyakashebeya road in Kashambya sub-county, Rukiga districts, is irking users

The seven-kilometer district road connects the parishes of Nyakashebeya and Rutengye to the Muhanga-Kisiizi-Kebisoni main road. During the Easter Monday celebrations at Nyamicucu Church of Uganda in Nyakashebeya parish, Kasyamba sub-county locals including Drake Twinomujuni and Sula Kajwarirre revealed that due to huge potholes, the road becomes impassable, especially whenever it rains.

They also explain that the lack of a drainage system makes the road flood during rainy periods. As a result, accessing the area, especially during rainy seasons, is always a dilemma.

Speaking during the service, Hon. Roland Ndomugyenyi Bish, Rukiga County member of parliament, also says that his survey has proved that the road is in a sorry state. He promised to liaise with district authorities to forge means of rehabilitating the road.

He also promised to demand an explanation from district authorities as to why none of the locals in the parish have yet to benefit from the Parish Development Model (PDM), a government program targeting to eradicate poverty.

Preaching during the service, Ambrose Sabitti Masanyu, the parish priest of Nyakatojo Church of Uganda in Kantare Archdeaconry, Diocese of Kigezi, condemned increasing vices of moral decadence in the society. Citing an example of homosexuality, corruption, and sexual harassment, Sabitti explained that moral decadence is taking the world to the dark side, adding that this is the time for Christians to change and return to God.

Ndyomugyenyi contributed 500,000 shillings in cash and 50 bags of cement to the church’s expansion.
