Kanungu police report a fatal road traffic accident involving m/v reg no UBF 137P beiben orange in color driven by Ssenyonga Simon 40yrs a driver of Chico a Muganda by tribe resident of Kirima trading center, Kirima s/county Kanungu district and m/v reg no T737DZX beiben orange in color driven by Magezi Ali m/a also a driver of Chico, a mukiga by tribe resident of the same address above, plus a motorcycle reg no UFL 221S Bajaj boxer red in color ridden by Namanya Naboth 20yrs a boda boda rider a mukiga by tribe resident of Kihihi town council Kanungu district, who died on the spot and one of the two passengers he was carrying one Natukunda Marvin m/a 18yrs, casual worker, resident of Kikuda Mukama village Kihihi town council, while another one whose particulars were not established, got minor injuries.
This occurred on 23/4/2023 at around 13:00hrs at Nyamwegabira along Kanungu Kihihi road in Kanungu district.
It’s alleged that both motor vehicles and motorcycle were from the same direction of Kanungu and when they reached Nyamwegabira m/v reg no UBF 137P knocked down the motorcycle from behind and while still down on the road, m/v reg no T737DZX came from behind these two and stepped on them, leaving the rider and one of the passengers died on the spot.
Police was informed,
the scene was visited and processed and the bodies were taken to Kihihi H/C 1V mortuary for postmortem both drivers were arrested and in custody at Kihihi police station.
Both motor vehicles were impounded and parked at Kiihihi police station pending I o v inspection.
