The state minister for trade, industry, and cooperatives has donated a total of 24050 Hass avocado seedlings to all villages in Ndorwa West Constituency in Kabale district.

This happened yesterday at the National Teachers College Kabale (NTC), where the representative of Hon. Minister Bahati, DRDC Ronald Bakak, handed over these seedlings to Ndorwa West Constituency LC III Chairpersons, who have transported them to beneficiaries across the constituency.

Talking with our reporter, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC) Ronald Bakak has appealed to the farmers to plant and take care of these seedlings very well as their own projects in their families, not as projects that are going to benefit other individuals such as Minister Bahati, the RDC, or President Museveni, because after a few years they shall start harvesting them, and this shall develop their families through educating their children, helping in purchasing basic needs, and increasing household income.

Bakak has also asked sub-county agricultural officers to assist farmers by teaching them new methods of farming and how they can plant and harvest their crops well.

The Rubaya Sub-County LCIII Chairperson, Atukwase Nelson, has told our reporter that he received 1700 Hass avocado seedlings, and these seedlings are to be distributed to each village within his sub-county.

Atukwase added that as the sub-county and Kabale district at large, they had never received any serial crop before, which would enable farmers to earn interest for years, and this Hass Avocado shall help them to overcome that problem and they shall be earning money season after season for years.
