Police investigate the death of Kabale man.

Police in Kabale district are investigating the death of Byaruhanga Sam, alias Kirasha, a male adult, aged 51 years, a mukiga by tribe and a peasant resident of Birunga village, Nyanja parish, Maziba subcounty, Kabale district.

It’s alleged that, on April 29, 2023, at around 8:00 a.m., the deceased left home and went to the savings group at Kigarama, a neighboring village.

Kigezi regional police spokesperson Elly Maate says that from there, he never reported back home.

Maate adds that on April 30, 2023, at around 7:30 a.m., when the wife, Akampereza Peace, was planning to go and start tracing for him, she saw Bruce, son to the sister-in-law of the deceased, and the other three carrying the dead body and bringing it home.

When she asked them why they had picked up the dead body from the scene without informing the authorities, they said that they knew he had died of natural causes.

It’s further alleged that the said family of the deceased’s sister-in-law has been having conflict for a long time, as they have been alleging that the deceased bewitches them to lose their wealth, thus being suspected of causing his death.

Maate further stated that the scene was visited, a sketchplan drawn by the homicide team from Kabale police station, and a statement recorded from witnesses.

The body was retrieved from the home of the deceased and taken to Kabale referral hospital for a postmortem to ascertain the cause of death.

Three suspects were arrested to assist in investigations.
