Bishop Akanjuna ordains 15 Deacons and 4 Priests

The Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, the Rt Rev Gaddie Akanjuna yesterday ordained 15 Deacons, and 4 Priests into Priesthood and Canonized 3 as Canons, during a function at St Peter’s Cathedral Church- Rugarama in Kabale District.

The Ordained Deacons are; Deborah Tumushabe, Jasper Byaruhanga, Bannet Tuurinawe, Junior Tugumisirize, Martin Monday, Wallen Akatwijuka, Timothy Niwamanya, Ronald Ngabirano, Dickson Turyamureeba, Frank Twikirize, Simon Mukamarinda, Stephenson Ayorekire, John Niwagaba, Ezra Orikiriza, and Jackson Kahwera.

The Priests include; Rev Ben Micheal Kiiza, Rev Ivan Byabagambi, Rev Ambrose Sabiti, and Rev Baker Muhereza.

The canons are; Reverend Canon Amos Tweteitse, Archdeacon of Kikungiri Archdeaconry, Reverend Canon Godfrey Twesiime, Archdeacon of Rukore Archdeaconry, and Reverend Canon Milton Nkurunungi, the Diocesan Secretary. According to the Chairperson House of Clergy in the Diocese, Rev Canon Lauben Byomuhangi, the Canonized Canons were presented by Bishop Gaddie Akanjuna and confirmed by the Diocesan Council sitting that sat on 31st March 2023 at St Peter’s Cathedral Church – Rugarama in Kabale District.

Bishop Akanjuna Charged the Ordained Deacons, Priests, and Canonized Canons to be the true ambassadors of Jesus Christ, preach the Gospel of Revival, and fight the Vice of drinking alcoholic drinks in their respective churches.  Bishop Akanjuna said the church is for righteous people who live as an example, saying that he doesn’t see why priests should take alcoholic drinks forgetting that they are church leaders who carry and serve the body and blood of Jesus Christ at the church.

Bishop Akanjuna strongly warned Christians across the Diocese against giving Priests alcoholic drinks which says that it hinders the Ministry among Servants of God.

The Bishop of East Rwenzori Diocese in Kamwenge District, the Rt Rev George Turyasingura while preaching asked Ordained Deacons, Priests and Canonized Canons to be good disciples of Jesus Christ in their respective churches. Bishop Turyasingura also advised them to be committed to Serving God and fulfill the vows they have made before him.

The Kabale district Woman Member of Parliament Catherine Atwakiire Ndamira who officiated as the guest of honor asked Ordained Deacons, Priests, and Canonized Canons to let God be the mediator in their Journey of Ministry.
