Ugandans have been urged to always embrace joint efforts toward ensuring a healthy environment.

This call was made today by Roland Nahabwe, the principal health inspector with Ntungamo district while speaking at the launch of the community health engagement strategy under the Ministry of Health held at the Ankole resort hotel in Ntungamo Municipality.

Under the strategy, health assistants and health inspectors work with community leaders and members of the village health teams to identify community health problems and report them, make home-based decisions and solutions, refer cases, and document them for government follow-up and permanent solutions.

The launch was attended by members of the village health teams, health inspectors, health assistants, community development officers,sub-county chiefs, and health facility in-charges.

Ntungamo district secretary for health Bibiana Kakinoni, who also doubles as the female councilor for Itojo sub-county, called for the re-introduction of sanitation competitions in families, which she says used to support improved household hygiene.

Kakikoni revealed that having urinals, clean toilets, clean household utensils, and other equipment facilitates hygiene.
