Kisoro man killed by a mob over stolen sheep.

Police in Kisoro are investigating the circumstances under which a man suspected of having stolen a sheep was killed.

According to an area resident, John Bavakure, aged 50 years, a mufumbira by tribe, a peasant, and a resident of Matarama village, Gisozi Parish parish,Muramba subcounty, in the Kisoro district, the suspect was reportedly found in possession of a stolen sheep and killed by a mob.

Stepjen Hafasha, a male adult, aged 20 years, a mufumbira by tribe,a peasant, and a resident of Matarama village, Gisozi parish, Muramba subcounty, in the Kisoro district, is the deceased.

It’s alleged that yesterday, June 1, 2023, at around 1800 hrs., the deceased was seen with a suspected stolen sheep in Makurizo village in Bunagana Town Council.

Kigezi regional police spokesperson Elly Maate says that the angry mob suspected that he had stolen the sheep, thereby beating him to death.

He adds that the mob then carried the body to his father’s home in Mutarama village, Gisozi Parish, Muramba subcounty, abandoned it on their compound, and ran away.
