A man in his twenties has been murdered in cold blood in Nyakishenyi Sub County, Rukungiri district.
Elly Maate identified the deceased as Philip Nuwahereza, a resident of Rwanyundo cell and parish in Nyakishenyi sub-county, Rukungiri district.
Nuwahereza had a few days ago started working at a washing bay in Nyakisoroza trading center, also in Nyakishenyi sub-county, until Thursday morning, June 1st, 2023, when his body was discovered lying in a pool of blood.
Godfrey Ntura, the Nyakisoroza business community chairperson, told our reporter that information was first brought to him by taxi operators at about 4 a.m., prompting him to run to the police, whom he informed, and they retrieved the body from the scene.
Twinomujuni, the Nyakishenyi sub-county boss who condemned the inhumane act, attributed the increasing crimes in the area to opium smoking and drug abuse, as well as gambling.
The chairman revealed that authorities are embarking on patrols and controlling the operation of bars in the areas in a bid to combat crime.
Maate said that the scene was visited and documented, and the body was conveyed to Rwakabengo Health Center 3 for postmortem.
