Locals urged to supplement Gov’t programs as Ntungamo launches construction of 130M road.

Locals in Ntungamo district have urged to always supplement the efforts of the government if effective service deliverly is to be realized.

The call was today afternoon made by the Ntungamo deputy resident district Commissioner Robert Niwamanya Kamuntu while speaking at the launch of the contruction of Keitanturegye –Kizaara –Nyakyera road held at omukikoona market.

Kamuntu urged the locals to work closely with the district’s engineering team to ensure that there is quality work and value for money.

Speaking at the same function, Ntungamo district chairperson Samuel Rwakigooba Salongo called on the locals to engage in productive ventures so that they get produce to transport to the market.

He revealed that the district will spend 130 million shillings on the 13.5 kilometer stretch and that the locals should grab this opportunity and benefit.

Geresom Bakamuturaki an area resident who also doubles as the local council II chairperson for Kagorora ward in Nyakyera Town council revealed that the road will help in connecting farmers to the market. He revealed that the locals in the area produce a lot of Bananas and coffee and commended the district for the timely intervention.

Kenneth Nganwa the local council three chairperson for Nyakyera town council revealed that the move by the district is timely and urged the locals to desist from the practice of vandalizing road furniture such as bridges which he says reduces the lifespan of the roads.

Ntungamo district engineer Charles Kusemererwa revealed that the road works worth 130 million shillings will include bush clearing,excavation,grading murruming and putting in place nine lines of culverts.
