The bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi has called upon Christians to abstain from immoral acts and draw closer to God, regardless of their social status.

Bishop Akanjuna made this call during a confirmation service at Kicucwe Church of Uganda Parish in Kantare Archdeaconry in Kashambya Sub-county of Rukiga District, where 59 individuals were confirmed into the Anglican faith on Tuesday.

The bishop revealed that many wealthy people view prayer as useless, thus urging Christians to reflect on the story of Isaac in the Bible. Isaac, a tax collector among the Israelites, turned to God after struggling with his actions and seeking peace from the Lord.

He reminded them that God is aware of everything we do, citing the example of Isaac, who initially didn’t want Jesus to see him due to his sinful life, but, being immortal, Jesus saw him. Therefore, he warned them that whatever they do in darkness is seen by God.

The prelate continued by emphasizing that most wealthy people fail to recognize the importance of prayer.

He stated that God works perfectly when people come together in prayer and seek guidance. He also cautioned those who associate with unsaved individuals, urging them to turn to God and distance themselves from evil acts.

He encouraged Christians to choose the right path, even if it means walking alone, rather than following many people down the wrong path.

Bishop Akanjuna implored the new confirmants to draw closer to God, seeking His guidance and protection against earthly pleasures and evil deeds.
