Katabazi rallies Rukiga residents to jointly fight poverty

Residents in Rukiga district have beenurged to actively engage in income-generating activities as ameans to break free from the shackles of poverty.

This call was made by Counsel Patrick Kiconco Katabazi yesterday at Rushebeya Playground in Nyangorogoro cell, Kitojo parish, Rwamucucu sub-county, during an address to the residents of Rukiga district, where the stakeholders, led by Rukiga leaders, convened to update the party’s yellow book.

Counsel Katabazi emphasized the importance of residents taking advantage of various government initiatives, such as the Parish Development Model, Emyooga, and the Uganda Women Entrepreneurship Program, to attain financial independence. He stressed the significance of public participation in government programs and meetings to gain insights into poverty prevention strategies.

Counsel Katabazi remarked that the government’s aim is to support you in establishing income-generating projects to enhance your social and economic well-being. He urges the people to embrace and actively participate in these programs.

Counsel Patrick Kiconco Katabazi underscored education as a fundamental tool in poverty eradication, stating that education is the cornerstone of societies, economies, and individual potential.

He urged the public to prioritize education in their preparations for sustainable development.

Former Resident District Commissioner for Sheema District, Frank Besigye Kyereere, highlighted the importance of updating the party register, known as the yellow book, as it marks the commencement of preparations for both internal and general elections.

Kyereere emphasized that expanding the membership base of the ruling party ahead of the 2026 general elections is crucial. He urged the public to register in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) yellow book to participate in the upcoming NRM primaries.
