The Ndorwa East Member of Parliament Hon. Wilfred Niwagaba on Tuesday started giving out money that was given to members of parliament to sensitize the locals on COVID-19.
According to Niwagaba, he decided to divide the money where by each of the sub counties in the constituency will get 5 million shillings. The money is part of the Shs10 billion Parliament controversially allocated itself and included, belatedly, during the debate and approval of the 304 billion shillings’ supplementary budget for Ministry of Health last week to fight the coronavirus pandemic.
The distribution of the money started with the sub counties of Maziba and Buhara and was handed over by the Kabale District Voice Chairperson Bridget Asinga Tumwesigye.
More money will be given out to the sub counties of Kyanamira and Kaharo.
Speaking at Kijonjo primary school in Buhara sub county where the sub county leaders received the money, the Buhara Sub county LC III Chairperson Joseph Baryamujura and the Buhara sub county Speaker Dismus Anyijukiire said that the decision by the area legislator Hon. Niwagaba to divide the money among the four sub counties in the constituency is best and will help the sub county make serious interventions aimed at fighting the spread of Covid-19.
Buhara sub county Speaker Dismus Anyijukiire says that the leaders were impressed by the move and highly appreciate the legislator for taking a decision that many did not take.
