Kabale resident district commissioner Darius Nandinda has come under fire from residents of Butanda sub-county for ordering the confiscation of a dead body that was destined for burial on Sunday.
Nandinda on Sunday ordered that a vehicle that was transporting the body of the late Siyadora Tumwine (78) a resident of Kabutuku in Butanda Sub-county who succumbed to a stroke in Kabale town.
Operatives at Katuna border intercepted the vehicle registration number UG 4628 M a white double pickup which was being driven by Edmund Masiko and was transporting the body and relatives who include Sanyu Sadayo a retired sub-county chief for Kabale district and Simpson Mpirirwe a parliamentary aspirant for Ndorwa West on the National Resistance Movement ticket.
The move saw the relatives and security engage in arguments for close to two hours as the operatives insisted on transporting the body using an ambulance belonging to Ndorwa West Member of parliament David Bahati who also doubles as the state minister for finance a move that was rejected by the relatives prompting the operatives to block the double cabin pickup from proceeding for burial.
The stalemate went on for close to two hours up to when Rev.Milton Nkurunungi the Archdeacon for Kikungiri Archdeaconary and other religious leaders who were traveling in a different vehicle called the Kabale resident district commissioner threatening to abandon the planned burial.
The group was later allowed to proceed with the body by Cheiftancy of military intelligence Operatives at Katuna after they received phone calls from their superiors.
Simpson Mpirirwe told our reporter that the resident district commissioner Darius Nandinda and Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence Agents at Katuna blocked him from taking the body of his Auntie for burial in Butanda.
“Its true I was blocked and intercepted on orders of the powers that be, “the highest god” the RDC Mr. Nandinda. Most of you who know me, know how I do things technically and intelligently, I however as usual keenly and intelligently had to outdo and outsmart the nincompoopic and unreasonable method of work” revealed Mpirirwe.
“However, I thank you all of you friends for the love and prayers. Your support has been overwhelming. My sincere appreciation to all security personnel that have helped us professionally and sympathetically, to beat up the unreasonable, and insanity decisions of the already sank “ship” added Mpirirwe.
Sanyu Sadayo says that the behavior of the resident district commissioner was disturbing and saw them delay the burial of their aunt for over three hours.
He says that though they were later allowed to proceed, he wonders why the security operatives and the resident district commissioner were interested in the dead body.
Fosca Niwagaba a concerned resident says that the actions of the resident district commissioner were irresponsible and uncalled for.
Levicato Tumuhamireho another concerned resident says that the incident is a shame to the government and the office of the president.
He says that the resident district commissioner is good at practicing cheap politics but should desist from messing up with people in pain.
Kabale district local council five chairperson Patrick Besigye Keihwa says that the action was uncalled for since the deceased’s relatives had requested for a vehicle from the district and wonders why they were blocked and asked to have the body transferred to another vehicle.
Darius Nandinda the Kabale resident district commissioner could not be reached for a comment as his known numbers could not go through.
