Police in the southwestern district of Rubanda is investigating circumstances under which a man committed suicide by hanging on the 16th of October 2021.
The deceased has been identified as Celestine Ayebare, 28, a resident of Mumparo Cell, Nyarubanga Town Council.
According to the area’s local council one chairperson, Martin Turihohabwe, it’s alleged that the deceased spent the evening drinking alcohol at the Nyamiyaga trading center.
He reportedly went home drunk and started telling his wife, Ustine Niwagaba Ustine, 27, that he wanted to commit suicide. The wife became concerned and reported the matter to the local authorities, but the husband locked him in the bedroom and executed his mission. His lifeless body was found hanging in the sitting room. Kigezi regional police spokesperson Elly Maate says that the matter is being investigated by police.
