Lawyer Muhangi blasts former URA commissioner over appeal

By APN Reporter

Hopes for former Ndorwa East parliamentary hopeful Protazio Begumisa continue to fade after he was blasted by his lawyer over a move to appeal a ruling at Kabale high court that saw him lose a legal challenge against incumbent Wilfred Niwagaba.

Protazio who whose problems are pilling every other day did not only lose the petition but also performed below average in interviews that would have seen him rejoin Uganda Revenue Authority as a commissioner after scoring 49%.

With his woes taking a new twist, his lawyer Justus Muhangi who put up a spirited fight to challenge the results of the January 14th, 2021 elections has hit at the politicians saying that he is not willing to proceed with the planned appeal in the court of appeal and asked Protazio to keep him out of his personal battles.

Muhangi who is a prominent Kabale-based lawyer says that he made it clear to his client that he was too busy to handle the appeal but only to be surprised by attacks from Protazio an act he says is uncalled for.

Protazio over the weekend took to social media condemning Muhangi for not accepting to proceed with the appeal and accusing him of holding out a move that has not gone down well with the legal practitioner and sober thinking members of the public.

Muhangi who is a partner at Muhangi and company advocates says that he has always upheld honesty and his only fault was to speak the truth to his client and called on him to desist from acting recklessly but rather swallow his pride and face reality.

Reliable sources from the Protazio Begumisa the Ndorwa East parlimentary seat loser indicate that he has been insisting on filling legal challenges against his opponent Wilfred Niwagaba so that he can disrupt his term of office.

Ndorwa East legislator Wilfred Niwagaba says that he has not problem with the decision by Protazio to appeal the ruling by Highcourt saying that is a constitutional right adding that he has no grounds to challenge his victory.
