Kabale Municipality MP says that the government must stop torture

Kabale Municipality member of Parliament Dr.Nicholas Kamara has called on the government to immediately stop all forms of torture.

The legislator who was this morning speaking at a talk show on a local radio station in Kabale district today morning revealed that the number of Ugandans who have suffered at the hands of security operatives is increasing day by day.

Kamara revealed that Ugandans who include prominent author Kakwenza Rukirabashaija and others who are perceived to belong to the opposition have been dehumanized and had a lot of pain inflicted on them.

Kamara says that all people irrespective of political and religious affiliation should wake up and condemn the actions of errant security officers.

The celebrated Ugandan satirical novelist and government critic, Kakwenza Rukirabashaija, was Allegedly tortured at the hands of the Ugandan security services after his arrest in December 2021.

Rukirabashaija, who won the PEN International Writer of Courage award for 2021, was arrested regarding tweets about President Yoweri Museveni and his son and kept in an unknown location until early January.
