Residents of Nyabubare sub-county and Kyabugimbi town council in Bushenyi district have today received relief from the office of the prime minister following the hailstorm that hit them in November last year.

Over 19500 kilograms of maize flour and 9800 kilos of beans were received by the Bushenyi district as a way to support those that were affected by the disaster last year.

Jaffari Bassajabala, the Bushenyi district chairperson, says that they had earlier received the relief to help those who were affected, but Nyabubare and Kyabugimbi town councils did not get it.

He adds that the food relief had to be handed over to the chairpersons of those areas, who will later distribute it to the affected homes.

Louis Gaffa Rukamba, the Igara West Legislator, noted that they expect to give 10 kgs of maize flour and 5 kgs of beans to those that were affected and has called upon those that were not affected not to interfere with the distribution.

He thanked the district leaders for the unity they had shown in requesting the relief.

Annet Katusiime Mugisha, the Bushenyi district woman member of Parliament, has asked the people that were affected to use the food provided to them appropriately but also develop a culture of storing food to always be prepared for such disasters
