Over 5000 Kuroiler birds have been distributed at Rwamucucu sub-county headquarters to farmers from Mparo town council and Rwamucucu sub-county in Rukiga District.

Ten farmers from each village in the sub-county and the town council received 5 birds each worth 10,000 shillings from the area’s woman member of parliament, Caroline Kamusiime on Thursday.

Speaking to our reporter at Rwamucucu sub-county headquarters, farmers narrated that the birds are going to act as a source of income for their families.   Deborah Tumwebaze and Amosi Agaba, who received the 5 Kuroiler birds, called upon fellow farmers to look after the birds very well.

They applauded the legislature for the donation, saying that they never benefited from the Emyooga program and that this was going to yield money for them, which they missed in Emyooga.

Farmers further thanked the legislature for working tirelessly to have the Rushebaya playground brought back into the hands of the residents.

Farmers who eat chicken   Edie Mugisha, the Rwamucucu sub-county chairperson, said they are experiencing tremendous developments from the woman MP which they have never seen before. He called upon farmers to take care of their birds if they are to have a source of income and to motivate Hon. Kamusiime to have more developments in the sub-county.

The Residents District Commissioner, Purikeria Muhindo Mwine, called upon the beneficiaries not to look at the birds and boreholes as those of Kamusiime but rather own them, saying that they are the potential beneficiaries.

Mwine said that she has never seen the tremendous development of Kamusiime in the 5 districts she has worked in as the RDC. She further called upon the public to organize themselves into groups to benefit from the Emyooga program.

The Rukiga district woman, Caroline Kamusiime Muhwezi, urged farmers to desist from selling the birds before reaching home.

She called upon those with plots of land along Muhanga Kisizi Road, which is yet to be termed, not to be overtaken by money and to rush to sell their land at a cheap price.

She urged the parents to educate their children and take them to schools where they could afford to pay school fees and pledged to continue following up on Rushebaya Land, which was sold on a private basis.    The Muhanga Town Council is part of the Muhanga District.
