The Rubanda District Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Prosy Akampurira Begumisa Mbabazi has urged the people in the Kigezi region to use the small pieces of land to grow crops that are profitable.

The legislator was on Sunday speaking at St Mark Kagyera Church of Uganda parish, in Bufundi Sub County, Rubanda district, during the thanksgiving of the former headteacher of Ncundura primary school-Karengyere John Owomugisha and his wife Grace Tukahirwa Owomugisha, both of whom were celebrating 62 years of age each.

The function was presided over by the parish priest of the same church, the Rev. John Byomuhangi.

She said that the region is one of the areas that is continuously becoming densely populated because the land doesn’t expand while the population keeps growing, adding that it’s high time people start using the small pieces of land for agriculture using modern methods of farming and grow crops that are profitable especially vegetables.

Hon. Akampurira also condemned the ongoing domestic violence caused by land disputes.

Preaching during the service, Annet Muzoora, a Christian from Bweranyangi Archdeaconry in the West Ankole Diocese, expressed concern over how people have focused on worldly pressures and forgotten the word of God. She also condemned the increased divorce rate among married couples, saying that the habit is ungodly.

She also asked the grandparents to stop cursing the younger generation despite having misunderstandings with them and instead pray for them.
