Youths urged to embrace vocational training.

The Youths in Kabale District, have been called upon to embrace
vocational education as a means to earn quick money for your families.
The call was made today by the Director of Vidas Construction company,
Didas Ndamira, who is also the husband to the Kabale District Woman
Member of Parliament, Catherine Atwakiire Ndamira at the graduation
ceremony of 20 graduands of Assumption Vocational school, which is
under Rwanyana Catholic Parish in Ryakarimira Town council of Kabale
District.
Ndamira noted that Vocational skills like bricklaying, tailing and
knitting, are important since they enable a learner to find a new way
of earning money for your families.
He observed that the beauty of Vocational education is because it
focuses more on delivering hands-on skills and providing greater
practical experience, which improves your talents.

Ndamira added that
for a country to grow, it needs trained labor, and vocational
education equips them with the necessary skills. He donated a Sweater
Knitting Machine and a tailoring machine, all counted at millions of
shillings.

The Principal of Assumption Vocational school, Wensesirus Asiimwe,
noted that the school, which started in 2016 and was today holding its
the fourth graduation ceremony has helped to equip several learners with
skills in bricklaying and concrete practice, Tourism and hotel
management, tailoring, and knitting among others. it started with an
enrollment of 16 learners, which have since surged to over 100. He,
however, noted that the school’s enrollment was greatly affected by the
Covid-19 pandemic, adding they were supposed to graduate more than 40
graduands but the number reduced to 20.

The school director, who is also the curate of Rwanyana catholic
parish, Rev Fr Boniface Barisigara, commended the instructors, for
equipping the learners with the necessary skills to make the job
creators and the parents for sacrificing a lot to educate their
children. He also commended the instructors for their professionalism
and their efforts in equipping the learners with skills, saying that
vocational training has become critical in preparing learners for
employment.
