Kabale municipality gives 30 pigs to 30 women’s groups

Kabale Municipality officials on Friday distributed 30 pigs to 30 groups of women worth 9 million shillings in Kabale Municipality to boost their household income.

The beneficiaries Birihanse Joy and Namara Justine said that the pigs are going to bring a source of income to their home. and that the pig manure will boost their agricultural output.

They applauded the Kabale municipal authorities for timing the season, especially in this season when there is a crisis in sources of income.

They said that they had never received such donations from the mayors who have governed Kabale Municipality.

Speaking to our reporter in the mayors’ gardens, the Kabele municipality mayor, Byamugisha Sentaro, said that the council had earlier saved money in the production department to boost the level of income among the women.

Byamugisha appealed to the beneficiaries to look after the piglets very well for their own benefits.

He added that the veterinary doctor is the one who chose the 5 groups of women, totaling 30 groups, after visiting their homes.

Byamushisha further revealed plans by the council to start distributing the pigs every year.
