Prof Charles Kwesiga sworn in as patron of Kabale sports club

The Executive Director of Uganda Industrial Research Institute (UIRI) Prof Charles Kwesiga has today been sworn in as the new Kabale sports club patron replacing the late governor of Bank of Uganda Prof Tumusiime Mutebile who passed on in January 2022.

The swearing in ceremony was presided over by the Kabale grade one magistrate Pascal Olupot at Kabale sports club house at Makanga hill in Kabale municipality.

Prof Kwesiga was elected along with other leadership members of the club last month during the club’s general meeting that was held at the club’s house at Makanga hill in Kabale municipality.

Other members of the Board of Trustees who have been sworn in include Can Richard Shaka, Dr Sam Zaramba, Gen Sabiti Mutebile, Charles Mbire, the Kabale district chairperson Nelson Nshangabasheija and JohnBosco Tumusiime.

Speaking to our reporter shortly after the swearing in, Prof Kwesiga commended members of the club for electing him as a patron and also pledged to carry on the legacy of the late Prof Mutebile who was committed and emphasized development through embracing sports. He also asked the youths to join the club saying they ought to get the opportunity to interact with very purposeful persons who have development ideas.

During the same function twelve members of the club’s executive committee were also sworn in. The members include, chairperson the committee Edgar Ayebale Mashemererwa, the secretary Richard Akampurira, the club treasury Peter Niwagaba, club captain Alli Karama, Indoor games captain Odongo Bigwera, the committee member Bridget Asinga Tumwesigye, Sam Tumwijukye as a club member among others.

The new executive chairperson Edgar Ayebare Mashemerwa pledged to mobilize more members especially the youths into the club for the growth and the development of the club.

Kabale Sports Club has been in existence since the 1940s.
