Counsel Patrick Katabazi to sponsor Rukiga district Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA).

Lions Football Club from Kashambya Subcounty has today defeated Kigezi Sports Academy from Bukinda Sub County by two goals to one, during the official launch of this season’s Rukiga district Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) 4th division football competitions.

The league which is attracting four teams is being sponsored by the Public policy specialist, Patrick Kiconco Katabazi who is one of the Directors of Kigezi Home Boyz football Club which is currently in Regional league.

Officiating as the Chief Guest of honor during the match at Kantare playground in Kashambya, Kiconco promised to sponsor both 4th and all the five teams that will participate in 5th divisions in the district with over 40 million shillings to the players and urged the people to always support games organized by Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA), if the talents of the young generation is to be uplifted.

Kiconco added that once people support institutionalized games like FUFA organized games, this will help the youths to earn from sporting in future. He earlier attended a Mass at Kitunga Catholic Church center, during the Thanksgiving of the Kashambya Subcounty LC3 Chairperson Elineho Bandaganiire where he donated 300 iron sheets worth over 21 million shillings.

The Chairperson of Rukiga district football Association Antello Namara commended Kiconco for supporting the teams, asking other sports lovers to also invest in FUFA organized football games in their respective areas. According to Namara, the three leading teams in 4th division will qualify for Western Regional league, while the five teams in 5th division will automatically qualify for 4th division. The four teams include those two that played today, Burime Tigers FC and Nyasa FC. Kitanga Lions club now has three points while Kigezi sports academy has no points.
