One person has died after drowning in Lake Bunyonyi in Kabale district.
The deceased has been identified as Beleive Orikiriza, a resident of Kagasha Village, Butenga Kabale district.
He met his death yesterday when the canoe he was using capsized at Bufuka, where he met strong waves and was not putting on a life jacket at the time of the accident.
Kigezi regional police Spokesperson Elly Maate says that the body was retrieved by marine police and has been handed over to the family for burial. She also called on locals to desist from traveling on water without life jackets.
