Two held over torture in Kisoro

The territorial police of Kisoro have arrested the two suspects who were seen in a video circulating on social media torturing two male juveniles by tying them up and beating them while disciplining them.

As reported by assistant inspector of police Baguma Ivan, a police officer attached to Bunagana police station in Bunagana Town Council, Kisoro District, the suspects are: Gerald Byiringiro, 34, and Emmanuel Mugisha, 47, both of Gakoro cell, Gasasa ward, Bunagana Town Council, Kisoro district, who allegedly tortured the two victims, namely: Fred Manishimwe, 11 years old, and Allan, both residents of the same address.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi regional police spokeswoman, It’s alleged that some time back in November 2022, at Gakoro cell, the two juveniles were taken after having broken into the house of Nyirabagenyi Sylivia with the aim of stealing therefrom, and that’s when they were subjected to the assault as a way of disciplining them, since the suspects are uncles to the victims.
 

The two suspects were arrested this morning (12/01/2023) after the said torture video went viral yesterday and are now in custody and ready to appear before courts of law tomorrow since inquiries are complete.
