President Yoweri Museveni has asked farmers to venture into commercial farming to curb poverty.

He made the remarks on Sunday in his message read for him by Vice President HE Jessica Arupo at the centenary celebrations of Rushoroza Cathedral Parish held in Kabale municipality.

Museveni said that farmers involved in substance farming should not help the country get out of poverty and create more jobs. Museveni asked religious leaders to mobilize the masses to embrace government programs like the parish development model to improve household income.

The State Minister for Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives, Hon. David Bahati, commended the church for supporting education and health and establishing commercial programs that improve the livelihoods of people.

The State Minister for Finance in Charge of General Duties commended President Museveni for the construction of Rushoroza Road, which is progressively moving forward. He also revealed that each parish has received 100 million shillings under the Parish development model.

The Bishiop of Kabale Diocese, Rt. Rev. Cellist Rubaramira, asked Christians to use celebrations to improve their faith.
