Excitement as maintenance of Kirungu Road kicks off.

There was excitement in Kirungu ward in Rwoho town council –Ntungamo district as the authorities launched the maintenance works on Rwoho-Kirungu-Kagabagaba road.

The 13.3 kilometers road connects the areas of Kirungu and Kagabagaba to the central business area of Rwoho.

Dozens of visibly excited locals gathered at Kirungu trading center to welcome the leaders of Ntungamo district led by the Deputy resident district commissioner Rosemary Atuhaire and the District chairperson Samuel Muchunguzi Rwakigoba Salongo as they launched the works on Monday evening.

Ntungamo district chairperson Sam Muchunguzi Rwakigoba revealed that the maintenance of the road was long overdue and revealed that the area has been cut off from the rest of the district and struggling to access basic services such as health facilities among others.

Muchunguzi further revealed that the district leadership in conjunction with the local leaders will ensure that the maintenance of the road is done regularly to avoid deterioration of its state.

He added that he is optimistic that the works with ease the transportation of the produce such bananas, Timber and Irish potatoes to the market.  

Ntungamo deputy resident district Commissioner Rosemary Atuhaire revealed that the government is committed to ensuring that accessibility is improved in the entire country so that the services can reach them on time.

She also asked locals to always supplement government efforts by opening trenches so that the rain water does not destroy the roads.

John Rukomberwa the local council three chairperson for Rwoho town council revealed that Kirungu ward has been struggling with the challenge of transport which had crippled service delivery.

  Simon Biryaguma a resident of Kirungu ward says that access has been a serious challenge in the area and is excited that the maintenance of the road is a great relief to the area.
