The authorities in Ntungamo district on Wednesday launched road works for the Rwenanura-Katungamo-Kyempene road in Rugarama sub county Rushenyi County.
Speaking at the launch held at Katungamo parish headquarters, Sam Muchunguzi the local council five chairperson revealed that the district is committed to ensuring that the road network is improved adding that the biggest challenge is inadequate funding and dependence on one road unit.
Muchunguzi further revealed that despite the challenges,the leadership is committed to working hard towards ensuring that the roads are kept motorable.
Ntungamo district chief administrative officer Mathias Ndifuna says that the district is has big network of 3000 kilometers but are able to effectively work on 90 kilometers annually due to the unavoidable constraints.
Hebert Kiiza the Rugarama sub county local council three chairperson commended the district leadership for prioritizing Rugarama sub county saying that the road is vital because it connects matooke markets of Katungamo, Ngomba,Kyabirara,Kyempene and Kyabirara making it very vital to the community.
Boaz Turyatemba the Rugarama sub county vice chairperson revealed that the road works in the area come timely and will go an extra mile in easing access to the rest of the district.
Charles Kusemerwa the Ntungamo district engineer revealed that the works will include Bush clearing,grading,shapping , spot murraming and putting in place headwalls.
