Unidentified Male Adult Found Drowned

 An unidentified male adult has been discovered drowning in Lake Bunyonyi, sending shockwaves through Butahe village community in Rutenga Parish, Kamuganguzi Sub County, Kabale District.

The incident, which occurred on March 14, 2024, at an unknown time, was reported by Kitaburaza Francis, the area chairman of Nyabyumba village in Katenga parish. Francis received word from a local resident, Ignitius, while he was at the Kerere trading center, alerting him to the presence of a lifeless body floating near the shores of Lake Bunyonyi.

Upon receiving the distressing news, Francis promptly contacted the Officer in Charge (OC) of Kamuganguzi Police, who in turn informed the District Criminal Investigations Department (DCID) in Kabale. A specialized homicide team, in collaboration with the marine police, was swiftly dispatched to the scene.

With coordinated efforts, the authorities were able to retrieve the body from the waters of Lake Bunyonyi. The deceased was then transferred to the mortuary of Kabale Regional Referral Hospital, where a postmortem examination is set to be conducted to ascertain the cause of death.

ASP Elly Maate, the Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Kigezi region, confirmed that investigations into the incident are ongoing. He urged anyone who may have a missing loved one to visit the hospital mortuary to assist in the identification process and facilitate a dignified burial.
