The two motorcycles were later recovered by the locals after a pursuit.
He adds that Police from Namayumba would later also respond and a motorcycle registration number UEQ 611E which the thugs were moving on was recovered abandoned.

Owoyesgyire adds that police worked with the relevant agency to help identify the owners of the abandoned motorcycle.

A number of suspects were later arrested during the operation including Isaac Kigozi who later informed police that Denis Ssekimbe was keeping the gun that was used during the foiled robbery and was the one who shot Mugarura on that fateful night.
Ssekimbe on Wednesday led the District Police Commander Kakiri and Flying Squad Unit to where he had hidden the gun and it has been recovered.
It has been also established that the recovered gun was stolen from Security Plus Co. LTD guards at Prount Construction site at Mabanga village, Namayumba Sub-county on 15/04/2021.

The gun is yet to be submitted for further forensic investigations to ascertain whether it has been involved in other crimes since it was stolen while the suspects are currently detained at Kakiri Police as investigations into the matter continue. The file will later be forwarded to the DPP for advice.
