Police in Rukiga are having in detention two people in connection with the death of a casual laborer.
The deceased is said to have been killed today morning by a mob after he was arrested by an angry mob allegation of stealing 1.4 million shillings from his former boss identified as Patrick Bikanyire Kambanda a resident of Kamuha village in Kibanda Parish of Kamwezi sub county.
Kigezi regional police spokesperson Elly Maate says that the suspect who was identified as Eric Kamukama (17) allegedly stole the money in question on the 14th of May 2021 and has been on the run up to today morning when he was found hiding and picked by Bikanyire and his friends who locked him up in the store but tried to escape through the ventilator but was apprehended and lynched.
Maate says that the area chairperson Justus Karakire reported the matter to police which swung into action and arrested Patrick Bikanyire Kambanda and his housemaid to help in the investigations while the deceased’s body was retrieved and taken to Kabale regional referral hospital for a postmortem.
