A Congolese truck driver in his 70s, on Friday evening, collapsed and died instantly in Kakatunda trading Center, along Kabale-Mbarara highway in Muhanga town Council, Rukiga District.
According to Elly Maate the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, the deceased is Mayari Matayo a Congolese national and driver of a trailer Reg No 1869AA/19-180AA/19 collapsed and died after packing the vehicle on the roadside.
Maate said that the driver was transporting fuel from Kenya to Goma ans was together with the turn man Emmanuel Magaviro Kabale 27 years.
It’s alleged that the deceased through the journey, felt sickly and would make the turn man also drive to get relief and was on pressure medication.
Police were notified, the scene visited by Asp Frank Tusiime Ag Dpc Rukiga, and the body was taken to Kabale regional referral hospital mortuary for postmortem. The trailer is currently guarded at Bukinda since it’s loaded with fuel
The case of sudden death has been registered at Bukinda police post under reference number SD 11/02/07/2021.
