Rubanda RDC asks locals to desist from disregarding COVID-19 guidelines

The resident district commissioner for Rubanda Peter Kibondo Rwakifari has called on locals to desist from disregarding COVID-19 guidelines.

The resident district commissioner who was on Saturday speaking to apearlnews.com at the district headquarters revealed that some locals have a tendency of disrespecting the guidelines issued by the president in line with the prevention of COVID-19 which he says compromises the efforts aimed preventing the spread of the virus which has claimed thousands of hundreds in the world.

Rwakifari who also doubles the chairperson of the Rubanda district taskforce revealed that Rubanda currently has 123 COVID-19 positive cases but are currently receiving homebased care because they do not have enough facilities to accommodate them.

 He adds that the locals in the area are not seriously following practices which include wearing masks and social distancing.

He further faulted the boda-boda riders and the taxi driver for not following the guidelines issued for them and instead resorting to overloading.
