Rukungiri councillor arrested for obtaining money by false pretence

Agaba David Kwebangira the Rukungiri District councilor representing Kebisoni town council is in custody over obtaining money by false pretence.

The suspect who is a resident of Kebisoni in Rukungiri district was arrested on Wednesday over obtaining money by false pretense from Talent Akampurira housewife resident of Rutooma A cell Ibanda parish Nyarushanje Sub County in Rukungiri district.

It’s alleged that when Akampurira applied for a vacancy of Parish chief to the Rukungiri service commission, Kwebangira approached her convincing her that he will secure for her the Job at 2 million shillings which she paid n 11th November 2021.

Kwebangira promised to secure the job saying that the money was needed by members of the Rukungiri district service commission.

According to the Kigezi region Elly Maate, when the suspect paid the money upon waiting in vain, she reported the matter at Rukungiri Central police station.

Maate said that the statement of the complainant was recorded, pending investigations and more inquiries underway.

The case of obtaining money by false pretence was registered under reference number SD REF 34/29/11/2021
