Rukiga gets 16 boreholes

A total of 16 boreholes worth 18 million shillings have been handed over to communities in Bukinda and Rwamucucu sub-counties Rukiga District.

The boreholes were constructed by Nile Humanitarian Development Agency.

Nile Humanitarian Development Agency is a None Governmental Organization from Bursa-Turkey that supports the needy with water, paying schools, providing support on Health among others

The bore halls were constructed in the villages of Kazindro in Kyerero parish, Omuruti cell in Ibumba parish, Maheru cell Nyarurambi Parish, Bugarama cell in Kandago parish and Rushebeya in Kitojo parish and Kirembe cell.

The beneficiaries of the boreholes say that they have been struggling to get clean water for drinking and home use.

Isa Kyirarira the executive director of Nile Humanitarian Development Agency from Bursa-Turkey applauded Hon Kamusiime Caroline who wrote to them requesting support of bore halls to the people of Rukiga.

He called upon the residents to take care of the donated bore halls from Hasan GumUSAlan. He urged the National Water and Sewerage Corporation not to tamper with the bore halls when they are fixing their water pipes.

Rukiga District woman member of parliament, Caroline Kamusiime Muhwezi, who presided over the commissioning, commended the locals for supporting the project, adding that she will also lobby for boreholes to ensure that at least 60 of them are put up across Rukiga district.

She called upon the public to take care of the new water sources so that they can serve the intended purpose.
