Rubanda leaders lauch 13.5km roadworks

Rubanda District leaders have launched the construction of a bridge and a 13.5 km road in Rubanda west.

The Community Bridge, which was launched on Monday, is worth 44 million and connects Kashaha town council and Butanda Sub County in Kabale District.

The 13,5km connecting Villages of Kitahurira, Ndego, Ihunga and  Nshanjare.

Speaking to our reporter, Adrine Tibenda the LC5 Councilor representing Habuhutu- Mugyera and Kashasha Town Councils, applauded the  area members of parliament and the entire district leadership for working tirelessly to have the locally constricted bridge built.

Adrine said that most of the pregnant mothers have been struggling to cross the locally built bridge and it has also been hindering business to cross from Rwanda, Kabale and Rubanda.

The chairperson Lc5 Mr Ampeire Steven Kasyaba said that the construction is going to last for 3weeks depending on the weather.

Kasyaba added that the bridge is going to have an economic impact on the people of Rubanda District.

The Chief Administrative Officer Rubanda District Mr Alex Kwizera Insisted to have a report about the progress of the bridge and the road within Three weeks

He further thanked Hon Kamuntu and Prossy for Lobbing to have the bridge constructed.

The Rubanda west constituency Member of Parliament Hon Kamuntu Moses Mwogyera Pledged to give out excavator at a free cost which will help in Road construction,

Kamuntu appreciated the commitment at the district and promised to go back with Hon Prossy in Road fund to get the balance of the 24 million to complete the construction of the bridge.

The Rubanda District woman Mp Akampurira Prossy Begumisa  said that the district had earlier received the culverts to construct the bridge but had not received money to facilitate the construction.

Prossy added that the bridge is going to ease on transport costs to vendors and the entire community,

She called upon the public to be patient on the state of roads in their communities highlighting that they are trying to get in touch with the ministry of works to have the roads worked on.

She called upon the public most especially those neighbouring having a piece of land along the constructed Roads and the bridge to plant trees which will act as wind breakers and reduce the speed on running water to damage the roads and wash away the bridge.
