The territorial police of Kabale are investigating the circumstances under which a fuel tank overturned, exploded, and burnt.

The incident occurred on April 14, 2022, at around 11:00 hrs at Kabaraga along the Mbarara-Kabale highway when a motor vehicle registered as SSD 775Q loaded a fuel tank from Kampala to Kabale BAJ fuel station in Rwakaraba, driven by one known only as Bruhan, failed to negotiate a sharp corner, hit a side electric pole on the opposite side, which sparked a fire, overturned, exploded, and burnt.

Kigezi regional police spokesperson Elly Maate says that the fire brigade and traffic rushed to the scene and the fire was extinguished.

He further revealed that the fuel tank had about 300,000 liters of fuel worth millions of shillings, and both the driver and the turn man survived with injuries and were admitted to Kabale referral hospital.
