Fr.Kanyonza laid to rest

The body of Rev. Fr. Dr Vincent Kanyonza, the oldest priest in Kabale diocese and the former executive secretary of the Uganda Joint Christian Council, was today laid to rest at St Mary’s Cathedral, Rushoroza, in the southern division of Kabale Municipality.

Speaking today during the requiem mass at St Mary’s Cathedral Rushoroza in the southern division of Kabale Municipality, the Bishop of Kabale Diocese, Rt. Rev. Callistus Rubaramira, described the deceased as an extremely humble man of God who respected all people regardless of their age and who devoted his life to supporting the education of very many disadvantaged lives.

Speaking on behalf of the family members and relatives of the deceased, Councilor Dan Bitwenda described him as a selfless, kind, educated, and intelligent man of God who served God whole-heartedly.

The Minister of State for Finance in charge of General Duties, Henry Musasizi and the Kabale Municipality Member of Parliament, Nicholas Thaddeus Kamara, described him as an instrumental and resourceful man of God who, because of great intelligence, laid the foundations of schools like St Adrian’s Seminary and Immaculate Heart Girls in Nyakibale, Rukungiri district, adding that this was a major contribution to the country.

At 93, Fr. Kanyonza passed away on Thursday morning at Our Lady of Good Health Rushoroza Hospital in Kabale Municipality due to natural causes
