Three caged for assaulting UPDF soldiers

Police in the southwestern district of Kanungu is having in detention three civilians on charges of assaulting Uganda People’s defense forces soldiers.

The suspects currently being held at Kanungu police station include Eliah Akyoreka, Sam Nuwamanya, and Elias Mugarura who are all residents of Kiruruma village, Nyakatunguru parish, Kihihi sub-county in Kanungu.

The incident reportedly occurred in the morning early hours of Wednesday.

  Reliable sources from police that talked to apearlnews.com on the preference for anonymity indicated that the suspects developed a disagreement with some officers while at a drinking joint before assaulting them seriously.

Kanungu deputy Resident District Commissioner Dad Rugaju says that the three soldiers were beaten seriously and are receiving treatment as investigations into the matter continue.
