The Rubanda Town Council Mayor Norman Tushabe has rubbished rumors that he has been making underground campaigns for the District LC.5 Chairperson seat come 2026.

Mr. Tushabe who doubles as the Vice Chairperson NRM Rubanda District was speaking at the fundraising ceremony for construction of All Saints Rubanda Church of Uganda Parish.

His clarification was in reference to rumors that a section of people was fronting him to unseat Mr. Ampeire Stephen Kasyaba in the 2026 LC.5 chairperson election for Rubanda District.

However, Tushabe said the rumor was cooked by a group of people attempting to use his name in fighting their own political battles. He endorsed Kasyaba as his preferred candidate for the 2026 LC.5 Chairperson election.

“My friend chairman, I have always told you that I have no problem with you. Dismiss all the rumors that I want to stand against you, because my intention is to stay where I am, as Mayor Rubanda Town Council,” said Tushabe.

The State Minister for finance (general duties) Henry Musasizi who was the Chief Guest at the ceremony, commended Tushabe for making clarification on the matter. Musasizi who is also the Rubanda East Mp and NRM Chairperson Rubanda District noted that Tushabe’s statements were vital for the NRM cohesion in the District.

“I thank Norman for his honesty and boldness. It’s in such honesty that we are going to build a formidable NRM force that anyone will never wish to compete against in the 2026 election,” Musasizi said.

On his side, Kasyaba said that he was pleased with Tushabe’s decision to refuse politics of diversion and intrigue orchestrated by people he referred to as “enemies of progress.”

“Those people cooking such rumors are not only my enemies, but also your enemies. It is incumbent on me and you to refuse their diversion because they don’t want us to develop”, said Kasyaba.

Meanwhile, out of the draft budget amounting to 205.1 billion, Min. Musasizi contributed 14 million, while both Kasyaba and Tushabe contributed 50 bags of cement each.

Other dignitaries at the ceremony included Rubanda District Woman Mp Prossy Akampurira and Ms. Jackline Katabazi who is also aspiring for the Woman Mp seat. They contributed 100 and 30 bags of cement respectively.

The All Saints Church Priest Rev. Ezera Kalyebura said the money collected would be used to lay the church foundation and the construction works would begin three days later.
