Kabale woman mp tips parents on immunization

The Kabale District Woman Member of Parliament Catherine Atwakiire Ndamira has asked the parents and guardians to take their children for Health services, during this month of Integrated Child Health Days.

October is the month of integrated child health days, where free maternal and child health services are offered by the Ministry of Health in all districts of Uganda. Now speaking during the church service at Kitojo Church of Uganda under Mayengo Church of Uganda parish in Katuna Town Council, Hon Atwakiire said that parents should ensure that their children get these health services including immunization, Vitamin A supplementation, de-worming, among others, which are of for free at routine centers where health services are offered in the community.

She added that immunization to children protects them against diseases like measles, rubella, polio, diarrhea, pneumonia, and meningitis. Atwakiire further added that during this Month, girl children of ten years will also receive the HPV vaccine to protect them against cancer of the cervix. She contributed 50 bags of cement to help in the ongoing upgrading of the church where 22 million shillings are required to execute the work, according to bills of quantities.

Speaking during the service, the Retired Archdeacon of Kamuganguzi Archdeaconry Ven Robert Kayongwe Basherura commended Atwakiire for the contribution and asked other people to always help in the development of social services in the community. Preaching during the same service, the Parish Priest of Kaara church of Uganda parish in Rubanda district Rev Herbert Turyagyenda asked the people to always fulfill their pledges or contribute what they can manage.
