Police in Rukungiri are hunting for suspects who allegedly murdered 60-year-old Joseph
Bashobeirwe is a resident of Kakatenga cell, Kihanga Parish, Buhunga s/county, in Rukungiri district.
It’s alleged that on April 16, 2023, at around 10:00 a.m., the deceased left his home for the garden on the hillside in Kakatenga village.
Kigezi regional police spokesperson Elly Maate says around 15:00 hours in the afternoon, Maurice Kyomugisha, who was at home located opposite the hill, heard the deceased making an alarm that he was being murdered.
She responded by making an alarm for the rescue of the deceased.
Unfortunately, on reaching there, she found him already dead, and the assailant had already taken off. She immediately informed the relatives and local leaders.
Maate adds that the matter was reported at Buhunga police station by the subcounty Giso Stella Kamusme, the crime scene was visited and documented, an exhibit of a panga recovered, and
body was taken to the Rwakabengo Health Center III mortuary for postmortem.
He says that since the suspects are still at large, anyone who may have clues that can lead to those who did it should volunteer them so that perpetrators are brought to justice.
