Police in Kisoro District are currently hunting an unknown motorcyclist who knocked down a pedalcyclist in a fatal accident and died on the spot.

Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Assistant Superintendent of Police Elly Maate told journalists that the accident took place in Busamba village along the Kisoro-Kyanika road in Kisoro Municipality.

Maate said that it is alleged that both the pedalcyclist and the motorcyclist were all from Kisoro Town heading to Kyanika, and the pedalcyclist was in front, and the unknown motorcycle knocked him from behind, killing him on the spot.

Maate attributed the accident to reckless riding by the rider of the unknown motorcycle, who came from behind.

The scene was visited by Sgt. Otole Yofas and his team, who retrieved the body and took it to Kisoro Hospital Mortuary for post-mortem examination. The police have started hunting for the motorcyclist who caused the accident and the deceased’s relatives.
