Bushenyi district has received 152,080 mosquito nets from the government through the Ministry of Health and National Medical Stores Uganda to be distributed among people in the district.

Wilber Byaruhanga, the district Malaria focal person, said during a sensitization meeting that comprised technical and political staff of the district held at the district council hall that each household will get a minimum of 1 net per 2 people in the next two weeks.

Bushenyi District LC5 chairperson Jaffari Bassajjabalaba cautioned those that will benefit from the exercise not to use the nets in housing poultry or as fishing nets, saying that as district leadership, they will deal with whoever will be in the mess.

Robert Atuhairwe, the Resident District Commissioner, Bushenyi, called for cooperation and coordination to ensure the distribution exercise is fair and transparent. He also echoed a strong warning that anybody who is found misusing the nets for either catching white ants or fish will be arrested and sent to jail.
