Police in Kanungu registered a hit-and-run traffic accident in which two people lost their lives.
It’s alleged that on August 6, 2023, at around 17:00 hrs., at Kihihi Primary School along Kihihi Kasese Road, M/v Reg No. UBN 790V trailer, White in color, knocked down a motorcycle and Killed one Female adult passenger and her 3-year-old child, whose particulars could not yet be established.
Kigezi regional police spokesperson Elly Maate says that the rider sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Kigezi Community Medical Center for treatment.
Maate says that the vehicle then headed off towards Nyamirama Rukungiri Road, but was later intercepted by Nyamirama police and impounded.
It is now parked at Nyamirama Police Station pending vehicle inspection while its driver is in detention.
The bodies were taken to Kihihi Health Center 1V Mortuary for postmortem.
