Police investigate the death of Isingiro man

Authorities in Isingiro District are currently investigating a shocking and brutal murder case that has sent shockwaves through the community. The victim of the heinous crime is none other than Mr. Byenyinemwe Ben, the Chairman of LCII (Local Council II) for Nyamitsindo Parish in Mash Sub-county, Isingiro District, aged 64.

The investigation into this tragic incident is being led by Rwizi regional police, and the spokesperson,Samson Kasasira, has confirmed the details surrounding the case.

The incident came to light on the early morning of October 22, 2023, at approximately 00:09 local time when Mr. Kato, the defense secretary of Nyamitsindo Parish, reported the murder to the police.

Upon receiving the distressing report, the police swiftly dispatched a team of officers to the scene. The police response team included members of the Police Canine Unit, enhancing the efficiency of the initial investigations. At the scene, they discovered the lifeless body of Byenyinemwe Ben lying on his bed, surrounded by a pool of blood, with a deep cut on his neck, indicating a brutal murder.

The wife of the deceased, Kiconco Sylivia, who was present at the time, provided an initial account of the incident. She claimed that assailants had attacked her husband while she was in the store. She only encountered three individuals leaving the house, and they also assaulted her as they fled from the scene.

To aid in the investigation, the Police Canine Unit was deployed. The highly-trained police dogs were instrumental in leading the officers to Nyakagyera cell, located in Kabingo sub-county, approximately 10 kilometers from the crime scene.

The dogs first guided investigators to the house of the deceased’s son, Yebuuze Ronald, and then proceeded to the house of Tukwatanise Moses, a neighbor of the son.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the motive behind this gruesome murder may have been related to domestic disputes.

Kasasir adds that it was revealed that tensions had been escalating within the family due to disagreements stemming from the deceased’s decision to marry a second wife. These internal conflicts had caused significant strain in the household.

The body of Mr. Byenyinemwe Ben has been transferred to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital mortuary pending a postmortem.

 Meanwhile, the police have taken four individuals into custody as part of their ongoing investigation into this shocking crime who include Kiconco Sylivia, a 56-year-old female adult and the wife of the deceased,Katushabe Aloysious, a 40-year-old male adult and son of the deceased,Yebuuze Ronald, a 33-year-old male adult and son of the deceased, Tukwatanise Moses, a 30-year-old male adult and a neighbor of the son of the deceased.
